Why Coaching?
The need for a coach or for coaching arises from the rapid pace of change, the complex business environment, a need for leadership, the growing importance of relationships and often the lack of traditional support within organizations.

Our Definition of Coaching
At Bratton Consulting we define coaching and mentoring as an ongoing partnership with our clients. We endeavour to produce fulfilling results in our clients' professional lives, leading to increased learning, increased performance and better quality of working life.

Principles of Coaching
We believe

• the client is a creative, resourceful and whole person
• a relationship between coach and client is a sanctuary/a safe place
• a successful coaching process is one jointly agreed to by coach and client
• skills of listening, empathy, objectivity, and the giving of sound advice are the skills we bring to the coaching process
• the coach must be a compassionate, non-judgmental person who understands the process of change and can help the client make good decisions about the future

Objective: Change
Change on the part of the client emerges through expanded self-awareness, and a broader repertoire of behaviours upon which to draw.

Coaches' Responsibility

• discover, clarify, and align with what client wants to achieve
• encourage client through self-discovery
• elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
• hold client as responsible and accountable

Coach asks the question – client can accept, reject or counter-offer

Coaches' Commitment
Our commitment to our clients is to create meaningful change, to act as a sounding board for complex issues, challenge and support, champion the client and create a non-judgmental and accepting space for the client to explore and experiment with new behaviours.

Program Length
Our coaching and mentoring programs are based on the needs of the client and the sponsoring organization. Each coaching situation is unique and treated as such by our coaches.
